Yes, focus to the film, that is, the film plane. On the right side of the camera, on the front chrome, above the I / T lever, is a line that you measure to. Measure the distance to your subject from that line or to it.
I use an old range finder thing that I hold up to my eye and turn a knob. Two images align and I read off the distance. It's only as big as a thick pencil.
e-bay sometimes has them for sale in accessories for still vintage cameras.
Otherwise, use the hyperfocal setting about f5.6 and 25 feet focus.
